I received the following email this morning from someone else in the fine-arts field, regarding a “Kenya Wildlife Art Field Study & Retreat” for June 2009 that Christopher Gervais is listing on his website:

“I contacted Kuki Gallmann to let them know about his [Gervais’] collecting $400 for the retreat he is sponsoring. This is the email I received back:

Thank you for this info:Wow!!

He is actually doing no Artist Retreat with us at all, although he attempted to!!Thank you again for warning us!

warm regards

Kuki Gallmann
From Kenya.”

So - as with prior posts on this topic, forewarned is forearmed.

To learn more about the Gallman Memorial Foundation and its conservation work in Kenya - as well as the fires set by poachers on the reserve two months ago - please visit www.gallmannkenya.org. (The arson story is under their “News & Events” link).

Just posted this on my Facebook page.

I wonder if Western and Wildlife Art Magazine will do a story on this (entitled “Gall of the Wild”, of course)

It would probably be a big hit and generate a lot of new subscriptions.

He [Gervais] certainly has a lot of gall ;o)

A fellow artist alerted me to a major event regarding this crook. I don’t know why this happened, but I tend to believe it had something to do with all the complaints filed against him - in any event - I’m glad he’s out of business (for now). If he starts up again next year - I’ll be one of the FIRST to see to it that others are informed of his business practices.

I also received an email today from an artist who has had (unfortunate) dealings with Mr. Gervais:

If you haven’t already heard Christopher posted the following on his website:

Effective June 20, 2009 operations have been suspended.

This decision has been made due to the global economic crisis and cost analysis of upcoming events.

Refunds to registered exhibitors shall be forth coming.

This jacka!! has the gall to post his new issue of Western & Wildlife Art Magazine - like he did nothing wrong in duping all those artists out of their hard earned money and its business as usual!

celebrating an important “milestone” - the “magazine” is one year old. The only milestone I want to see is this jerk in JAIL!

Yeah, I got that email too, Marti……I tend to believe kharma has a way of sorting these things out.
